Pastor White exemplifies unwavering commitment to faith and leadership, demonstrated through his extensive service and profound impact on multiple communities. Formerly a dedicated member of the Journey of Faith Church in Waldorf, MD, Pastor White served faithfully for 15 years before his appointment to Smith Chapel in August 2020. During his tenure at Journey of Faith, he held numerous roles, including Lay Member to Annual Conference, Lay Leader, Chairperson of the Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC), Trustee, Children’s Ministry Lead, Executive Committee member, and COVID Reopening Committee member. He led the study of God’s Word through Sunday School, youth groups, and adult Bible studies, always driven by an insatiable passion for developing disciples and nurturing true relationships with Christ.
A retired United States Air Force veteran, Pastor White honorably served his country for 20 years in various capacities. His military career is distinguished by his commitment to service and excellence. Today, he continues to demonstrate this dedication as the Division Director of Diplomatic Technology at the Department of State in Washington, D.C.
Pastor White’s calling into ministry was inspired and nurtured under the guidance of Rev. Antoine “Tony” Love. Embracing his call to serve, he echoed the words of Isaiah, “Here am I, send me.” One of his guiding scriptures is John 8:58, where Jesus declares, “Before Abraham was born, I am.” This verse provides Pastor White with strength and perspective during challenging times.
Currently, Pastor White is appointed to Smith Chapel UMC in LaPlata, Maryland. Known as the “Church on the Curve,” Smith Chapel is committed to living out their mission: “We Are Ordinary People, Predestined for Extraordinary Ministry, As We Commit to Draw Closer to God.”
Pastor White and his wife Kimberly, married for 35 years, are the proud parents of two sons and one daughter. He is the second of three sons born to Deacons Gerald A. and Pamela M. White of Newark, Delaware. His life and ministry are a testament to his dedication to faith, family, and community, inspiring those around him to grow closer to God and embrace their own callings.
